The role of action according to the secret - 2

October 7th, 2007 by Osman

Let me continue.

First, I would like to point out that this is not an advice about sitting at home and doing nothing. Instead, this is to discuss how action is irrelevant to what is told in the Secret.

The Secret, and it’s source, the Teachings of Abraham by Abraham & Hicks claims that to create a castle is as easy as to create a button.

This is not an arbitrary comparison. Law of attraction is here to tell us that this material world, this physical reality that we live in is in fact just a reality of our creation. In this creation, there isn’t any difference in terms of difficulty or complicatedness between creating a handful of sand and creating a galaxy because both are same in difficulty and complicatedness.

I, personally, can’t suggest you doing nothing, not acting and just thinking what you want to achieve or have or do or be. With my current standpoint, current addictions, current perception of reality, I cannot seem to do that.

I just try to tell you that action and law of attraction are not in harmony, they are just in conflict.

Law of attraction just promotes action in joy, which means you think of a red Ferrari and take it right away when it appears. So, it doesn’t tell you that you are going to have a brilliant business idea and you are going to work for that idea and then you are going to easily have the money to buy that Ferrari. Even this is not something encouraged by the law of attraction.

Again; this is not something that I am defending, advocating or promoting. I just tell you that using law of attraction doesn’t entail that you will easily work hard.

Therefore, it is tautology that you can achieve working hard by using law of attraction. By the rules of the law, that just means you attract the experience of working hard and the universe manifests it for you.

That was the brainstorming for the role of action according to the secret.

The role of action according to the secret - 1

I see that the role of action when using the law of attraction is a little misunderstood and misguided.

Law of attraction is simple: thoughts become things.

If you know this and still talk about action that much, this just means that you are on the “personal development” bandwagon instead of “the secret” bandwagon.

In other words, that means you have understood nothing about the law of attraction and you are not using the secret.

This means you just use recent scientific developments in the area of cognitive sciences, only to struggle more efficiently and thus become more successful.

James Ray says in an interview:

For instance, there’s been a lot of teaching about visualizing in the last decade, so a lot of people have gotten pretty good at it. I can’t tell you how many people see me in The Secret and tell me “I’m sitting in my living room visualizing my new life every day.” Let me let you in on another secret… you sit around and visualize and they’ll come take your furniture away! While this person may be able to think and feel their visualization in spades they’re not taking any action. It’s not going to happen.

Another meaning of emphasizing action too much is that you are not after wealth. You just seek more money and different experiences.

So why this intellectual people put that much emphasis on action?

Having to take action and and bring success with that action is an experience. A nice experience that can make you feel really good. It is an experience that you can attract into your life via the law of attraction. Maybe you can feel that you are somebody important. Maybe it is the feeling that you are the boss, managing other people. Maybe this is what you understand from abundance and prosperity.

These are feelings and experiences that entertain some people so much that they choose to attract this scenario instead of using the secret for the sake of seemingly unexpected income.

People who claim that action is required think of the secret as a tool which enables them working hard and not getting tired of this work.
